Black Benefactors & Beckner Advancement Fund Host Workshop on Healing

On June 12, 2019, Black Benefactors (BB) in partnership with the Beckner Advancement Fund hosted a dinner and discussion on “Centering Individual and Collective Healing in Movements for Social Change” for BB and Beckner grantee partners.

The discussion was led by Dr. Ife Kilimanjaro, Senior Network Engagement Director at the U.S. Climate Action Network, and focused on creating healing-centered organizational practices and cultures that reduce individual and communal harm and trauma, and restorative and regenerative ways of caring for yourself, family, friends, fellow organizers, your community, and the earth in times of constant direct and indirect mental, emotional, physical and spiritual assault.

The event provided a collaborative space for the grantees to network and envision ways to embed healing practices into their organizational practices.

Special thanks to Jalisa Whitley, BB member and program officer for the Beckner Advancement Fund for leading this gathering!
